Counseling
Anxiety and stress isn’t something new but lately your thoughts are taking over your life. You know they don't make sense but you can’t control them. You blocked it out before but now you can’t focus at work, at school, or be with others. Avoiding people, places, and things started out small but has become a way of life and you feel trapped. The guilt, sadness, and pressure you feel every day has become more than you can bear.
Does this sound like you or someone you know?
You’re not alone and getting the right treatment can be life changing.
Are you ready for real change?
We’re not your average talk therapy.

We take time to hear about what’s going on, teach you about what you’re struggling with, and help you set goals so we can come up with a plan to get you better. The tools you’ll learn are meant to be regularly used outside of your sessions with us. That means that you need to be willing to do homework assignments throughout the week so that you are actively working toward your goals. When appropriate, we may suggest bringing in a family member, friend or spouse so we can teach them how to support you at home. If you’re taking medication or struggling in school, it might be helpful for us to talk with your doctor, school counselor, or other medical professional so that we can all work together as a team to make sure you’re receiving the best care possible.
This is what makes Lavender House Counseling different. Counseling isn’t something you do for one hour a week. It requires talking about your thoughts and feelings, gaining tools, practicing new skills, addressing your physical health, and having a support system that knows how to help. That’s where the real change happens - the change that you’ve been looking for.
It takes a village and mental health doesn’t exist in a bubble.
Schedule your phone screening to talk to us about getting started! We offer in-person and virtual sessions for people in North Carolina.

Our therapists are trained in Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERPT), which is a research based treatment for OCD. This specialized treatment is recognized as the gold standard of care that helps to change the way you respond to triggers so you can finally break the cycle of anxiety. We also have training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which we regularly use with people struggling with stress, anxiety, and depression as well as arts based techniques, and more.

Have you grown up in church and been told that depression is a sign of a lack of faith? Or maybe you’ve been given scripture verses telling you not to worry after pouring your heart out about how anxious you feel? You’ve been quoting scripture and pray daily but you feel broken. You’ve learned to smile and tell everyone you’re fine but the pain hasn’t gone away. Now the shame you’ve silently been carrying has made you start questioning your walk with God.
Faith isn’t a feeling. Faith is a decision you make when life is hard. Struggling isn’t a sign of spiritual weakness. You are not your thoughts. You can see a counselor while continuing to seek God for healing. You can go to therapy while also being a strong believer.
You don’t have to choose between your faith and your mental health! Our counselors are trained to offer faith-based counseling if that’s something you want to incorporate in session. And if you’d rather not, that’s fine too!
