Speaking & Education

Does your business, church, or organization want to know more about mental health but in a way that is practical, relevant, and specific to the needs you’re seeing? At Lavender House Counseling, we’re working to bridge the gap between mental health education and the Piedmont Triad. So many recognize the impact of mental health and want to help but don’t know where to start or what to do. That’s where we come in.

Speaking & Education Lavender House

Churches and faith communities help people who are hurting every day by offering faith, hope, and love. Studies have even shown that people struggling with mental illness will approach a pastor or small group leader before they ever contact a counselor. If you’re a pastor or work at a church, this probably comes as no surprise. Your job extends far beyond sermons and includes long hours, helping congregants in crisis, and responding to multiple requests, all while focusing on your own spiritual walk. Let us help you by providing training, education, or workshops so you don’t have to do everything.

Lavender House Counseling’s founder, Katherine Judd, has already spoken at several local churches and specializes in providing faith-integrated mental health education. Here are some things that pastors and lay leaders have said when they reach out to us:

  • Our pastors and small group leaders need training in learning about depression and anxiety because we’ve been seeing that a lot lately. Could you teach us some basics on what it looks like and what we should be doing to help?

  • Several of our congregants struggle with anxiety and OCD, could you come teach us how to help them while incorporating a biblical perspective and addressing spiritual warfare?

  • We want to start having more support groups at our church for people who have been through grief and loss. Could you come do a workshop to address these issues so we can kick off community groups?

  • Some of the kids in our youth group have been struggling with anxiety, conflict, and communication with their friends. Could you come and speak at our youth group?

  • We have a lot of teenagers in our youth group and parents would really benefit from hearing about how to communicate with them. Do you do workshops for parents?

Are you ready to provide your team or congregation with practical and preventative faith-based care?

Children and young adults seem to be struggling with mental health more than ever. But between curriculum requirements, lesson planning, grading, schedule changes, and staffing challenges, when do you have the time? If you’re a teacher and you see anxiety or behavior problems in the classroom, we’re here to give you some practical tools. If you’re a school counselor, and you want to partner with us to bring awareness and education to teachers and staff, we’ve got you covered. We want to support you in the work you’re already doing by providing in-service training for staff or speaking at assemblies for students.

Did you know that in our practice, parents frequently ask how they can support their student at school? If you’re interested in having us come to your school for a lunch-and-learn or workshop for parents and families, we would be honored. Contact us to share what you hear about the most from families and hear how we can help.
